We had the outstanding pleasure of doing an interview with world class pianist, Faranak Shahroozi. Here’s what she had to say.
Q) 1. What started you out in music?
A) I was playing by ear since I was 4. Later, my parents got me private lessons. In college I pursued classical piano performance.
Q) 2. Who are some of your inspirations?
A) Richard Clayderman , Yanni. Francis Lai, Nino Rota.
Q) 3. How would you describe the music that you typically create?
A) Romanic, soothing and highly melodic with a twist of melancholy. A lot of musicians in the business have compared my compositional style to Nino Rota’s who wrote God Father, and Francis Lai’s, who wrote Love Story among so many other great music.
Q) 4. Tell us about your creative process?
A) Usually some form of mood change ignites my creative side. Then, I sit down with a glass of wine and I start. After I have the first 12 bars, I practice it to perfection. In the following days that first emotional spark is gone. Then, I sit down and draw on the theory of music to knowingly take the music further and to develop on the original theme. In 2 weeks I have a complete song ready to perform. Voila!
Q) 5. Who would you most like to collaborate with?
A) It’s a dream of mine to collaborate with Il Divo. I just met with Sebastien Izambard. He’s very interested in my style of playing. Next is to have me meet the other 3 members of the group. Keeping my fingers crossed.
Q) 6. What is one message you would give to artists starting out?
A) To all the artists starting, my advice is to believe in yourself and never give up. Knock on every possible door. One eventually opens.
Q) 7. How do you feel the Internet has impacted the music business?
A) The internet has had a tremendous effect on an Indie artist to promote his/her music right from home. Connecting and sending music has become so easy.
Q) 8. What is your favorite song and why?
A) I have so many favorites. But, If I have to narrow it down to one song, it would be “ Windmills Of My Mind” by Noel Harrison. It’s just absolutely beautiful. Tugs your heart strings. I think every famous singer and instrumentalist has performed a version of this song.
Q) 9. Where can fans find your music?
A) On all digital Platforms worldwide.
Q) 10. How can your fans contact you online?
A) My website has all my information: www.Faranakmusic.com
We are honored to have had you on our platform. Thank you, and continued success to you.
